memorial day weekend at the Nation's Capital

Driving around D.C for a random purpose (which you should never ever do) just missing the memorial day parade, I forgot how lucky I am to live so close to a beautiful city. American flags everywhere, happy families ready for fun in the sun, it was just so nice to see this patriotic view. On a normal day, most grown-ups who live in the suburbs of D.C try to avoid DRIVING in the city for many various reasons. And most people like me, try to avoid the city all together for also, many various reasons. Funny how living in the suburbs, as most people my age would say, you sort of forget that you live in the most powerful city in the world. While driving around, slamming my breaks from every hidden stop light which come around every 5 feet, dodging all the people in business suits, extreme runners, and the gazillion tourists trying to take pictures while crossing the street with their kids trailing along behind them, I was looking at all the historic buildings and thinking wow these have so much history and it is all so important! And living so close to this is just amazing and I feel like I should know this city's history a lot more as well as I should'nt be getting so lost all the time. My parents, who work in the city, tell me the funniest things that happen in D.C that only would happen here, which one of them works for the government (as you can imagine his stories on getting to work). Also, driving along the Potomac River seeing all the families and cute couples having picnics and seeing kayakers, pretty boats, people failing at sailing going overboard, reminded me of my childhood where my grandparents would take my sister and I to see the cherry blossoms every year they come out. I haven't had the time to gallavant this summer around the city and attending their free events, but it is such a beautiful city and there is so much to do! With one of the best Metro Station's in the country (no it really is, even I can get my way around), it is a pretty great city to see. And for all the shopping lovers ...Georgetown is definitely a place you want to hit! So if you ever have the chance to visit Washington D.C, take it, it is so worth while. I have definitely taken where I live for granted the many times I try to avoid the city and I will definitely start visiting D.C a lot more after being so inspired this past weekend of our patriotism!

Kashi peanut butter krispy treats

Hey, it's pretty good for a start! I was inspired by a dance friend who goes to college as well as lives in the same area as me. Me and him have been wanting to either A) take ballet class together B) go gallavanting in the city and/or C) have a baking party; none of the above has worked haha. Oh today's youth. But he did inspire me to start baking, partially because I was hungry for something, something different, something real and not processed where I can say, "I'm full, my heart is warm!" So although it doesn't really fit the whole full thing, it was still heart-warming and really good! Here is my first recipe for the summer ...More to come!

Ok, yes I know, looks sooo appealing in this picture, but trust me it was so good! It is:
-Kashi cereal
-Peanut Butter
-melted Marshmellow's
Just melt butter in pan then put the marshmellows in and start stiring until it becomes all gooey Then in a another pan quickly mix the cereal, pb, and marshmellow goo together. Ta-Da your done! Also, you could probably try chocolate instead of peanut butter, and melt it with the marshmellow's or even have both!

Robert Pattinson ...ballet?

The vampire talks about his dancing experience on the ellen degeneres show. You know Robert, I was all about Team Edward throughout my twilight obsession, but now after that comment about cant dancing past 10... i think I need to reconsider my views on this situation here as well as where this relationship is going.

J.Crew does it again

About 8 minutes away from me is a town center where all the coolest kids hang out, seniors take their strolls, and where stressed-out business people spend their money on during their lunch hour. It is definitely the chill hang out place for those "Hey let's catch up!" type moments. Well if Im not hanging out with friends there, I usually make my rounds through my favorite stores. One of them is, of course, J.Crew! I haven't been in the store since i've been home until a couple days ago. Now besides stalking the really cute manager, I rarely ever get success coming out of that store except grabbing that month's J.Crew catalog on my way out. Im pretty sure the manager has nicknamed me, "The girl who is to broke to leave with anything but the catalog". Well when opening this catalog, my heart jumped. Not only is it a really good collection, but the stylist did an amazing job! The detail of accessories, the way the garment was placed on the models, the models posture's, were so great; I couldn't get over how me it was and I would even wear it the way they did! J. yay for bikes

This summer I had a plan, a plan to live my life (or maybe just these 3 months) naturally and environmentally clean. Meaning! at the least; eating limited amounts of processed foods, keeping the usage of lights and water to a minimum, and feeding the deer once in a while that multiply around our house. Has it worked? Um no not really, BUT! my parents are getting me a bike to ride to work!! So we found the naturistic back/shorter route to get to my work and I am super excited to get cruising along these roads! And in quincidence (i know, totally spelled that wrong) the Sartorialist had a whole category on his blog with people riding bikes! Look at these cool people riding their bikes!!
(left to right Audrey Hepburn, Einstein, last two taken by Scott Schuman (The Sartorialist) in Europe)

Robert Pattinson and Agyness Deyn looking mighty fine with their bikes...

So people if there a chance to give your un-ethical money waisting ride a rest (your car), do so! Get that bike out and peddle your way to your destination! or walk, run, cartwheel! anything but that pollution monster!

I wonder what it's like to dance with a mile long legs

Alina Somova (can't find her exact height but some people think she is 5"11'-6 ft?)

IB Latin Project

as embarrassing as this was, this is my IB Latin video project about greek mythology my senior year. The reason why there are a bunch of crazy people in this video is because this project was due the same week we had our spring performance and I really didn't have time to do outside stuff because I was practically living at the studio. So of course I made the little kids at my studio do it since we were all there anyways (and some boys in my latin class)! Haha well I guess this proves how weird we all are. We all thought it was funny mainly because its all a bunch of inside jokes and the fact it is all IMPROV! I didn't give them a script, they are all just pulling these lines and actions out of their heads, I just told them the story! So either this video will further your knowledge in Greek mythology, make you laugh, or you end up sitting there thinking you just waisted 10min of your life watching a bunch of goons. Oh and I ended up getting a B on it and there's bloopers at the end! SO ENJOY!

a true artist

always has substance behind his work...never at a loss for an idea ...HE IS AMAZING!

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

If you haven't seen this show yet, you are missing out! This show is so wrong, it leaves me laughing hysterically on the floor with six pack abs by the end of each episode. Paddy's Pub

p90x extreme home fitness

so in the spirit of getting back in shape, my dance friend ditched me going to ballet class tonight because she said she has p90x at her house that she is going to do instead and then going to make me do it with her this weekend. I had no idea what that was and so she told me to look it up on google. And i did...

...and maybe I shouldn't have. haha wow kara and somehow I am not suprised that you are doing this. Can people really look like this in 90 days? oh well I guess were going to find out soon, for your uncle's boat, right kara?

on a less serious note...

heres the story ...during Nutcracker dress rehearsal 2 yrs ago at the theatre, this skinny little girl named Elham literally about 1.5 feet tall wanted to get on the stage. Three of my friends and I just arrive to the theatre, sit and put our stuff down in the aisle seats. All of a sudden we see this 1.5 ft midget run down the aisle and attempting to jump on top of the stage, smacks into the bottom part of the stage looking like the guy in that video. As loud as that smack was, she just ran off smiling and then found the stairs on the side of the stage to get on. All four of us were non stop laughing throughout the whole rehearsal and we're still laughing till today!

Where did Gemma go?

So I was reading the May issue of Vogue this morning, fliping through all the ads and editorials, and think ...something is missing. Whatever happened to Australian model Gemma Ward? I always remember her gracing her presents in every Vogue and Teen Vogue magazine I open every month when I was younger. Every teenage girl wanted her doll-like looks and so called "perfect" body.

Gemma was the youngest model to be listed in American Vogue and Teen Vogue and at age sixteen. Starting at the young age, she had been in shows for Prada, Valentino, Chanel, Gucci, Alexander McQueen, and for many more major designers. She was a HUGE deal at the time in the fashion industry.

<--Well her so called "perfect" body seems more like, either this girl is actually a twig off of the Eucalypt Woodlands (trees in Australia) or she really needs help. So will we ever see Gemma Ward gracing her presents again in magazines? No. Not in todays world. You know why? Because the series of criticism about her weight gain from the press. A year before she confirmed her "retirement", she said in quote, "I was suprised to wake up this morning and read news of my own retirement. While I am taking some time off currently to rest and enjoy the company of family and friends, I am still very much excited and enthusiastic working model. I'm only 20, for God's sakes." Page Six Magazine contains roughly 2,500 words on Ward's fallout from the fashion industry and how it is impossible to get clients with the weight she is now. An editor called her "big, almost bloated" when she came down Chanel's runway in 2007. Recently last November, her agency turned down a photo-shoot offer from Harper's Bazaar, stipulating that if she were to return to its pages, it would be on the condition that she be back in modeling shape. But even if she loses the weight, she will never be a supermodel again, claims a high-ranking fashion magazine source. Ward's sister, Sophie -a 24-year old writer and former model- summed up harsh realities of the business and how they affected her siblings psyche. "She came home every now and then, always for Christmas. I kept my head down trying to pretend my little sister wasn't being slaughtered internally by an external industry." Not only has this industry gotten so low and messed with the young Gemma Ward's physical and psychologcal being to be so skinny but now being in her early twenties, she can't get her foot back in the door! Are they really doing this to her?
<--Chanel's runway 2007. "Big, almost bloated" ...Really? You got to be kidding me!!
Is this how society should be seen? Girls who look like this are seen as big? This discusts me beyond belief. Not only did they slaughter her reputation, look, and mind, but they are setting one terrible outlook towards the young generation.

<----Gemma Ward today. You go Gemma! You get back on that horse and kick those editors and clients ass!

this makes me wana play with chalk outside!

Hi-Home, Hi-Chew

IM HOME! I finished my first successful year of college and im ready to go back for more challenges! But in the mean time its summer break and besides making money and working why not go back to the ol' blog that i never wrote in during the year and write about the interesting things I tend to stumple upon?

So my mom works for the National Confectioners Association aka goes around the country, judges, and then collects the candy that she stores obliviously around the house. Now adays since we are all so called healthy living, its normally a bunch of gourmet stuff that if she even hears me breathe on she'd go on to her story of what desperate measures she went through to get them. But coming home I found these strawberry fruit chews called Hi-Chews that were in a gum looking pack. Ever since the day i tried them, I view life differently or maybe just candy. Hi-Chew is a soft fruit-flavored chewy Japanese candy sold by Morinaga & Company. They come in many different fruit flavors such as grape, cantalope, banana, mango, and apple. But word of advice, when i told my friends asian friends at my ballet school about this candy, they all ready knew about it and said, "There all discusting except the strawberry ones." So people try them and see for yourself!

Im giving you the real site of Hi-Chew so its in Japanese ...because its way cooler than the english site. Go learn some Japanese! http://www.morinaga.co.jp/hi-chew/
